Music, Entertainment, Colour, Humour, Sport.. A Taste of the Future at Tullamore Parade

The Tullamore St. Patrick's Day Parade promises to have a menu of entertainment ranging from good music, dancers, fantastic floats full of colour, great sense of humour and great ideas about The Future.   

Five major Bands will march through the town and entertain the large crowds who line the streets. 
Many sporting organisations will also bring their colours and entertainment to the event.   
The Parade takes place on Sunday next 17 March starting at 11.30 a.m. sharp.   

There will be entertainment at the Review Stand from 11.00 a.m. provided by Tullamore Comhaltas and the Durrow Set Dancers, so get there early !   
The Colour Party will be lead by local man, Commandant Pat Tobin. This will be Pat's 21st year doing this and unfortunately his last.

 

Assembly point
The assembly point for community groups is the Car Park of the Bridge Centre and groups are asked to be there by 11.00 a.m. at the latest.   Please co-operate with Stewards.  Assembly for businesses is at Kilcruttin, opposite the Railway Station

 

Route
The route is High St., Bridge St., Colmcille St. and over the Kilbeggan Bridge onto Arden Rd with finish at the GAA Centre.   Groups will not be allowed to disperse before or immediately after the Kilbeggan Bridge for health and safety reasons.

 

Theme
The theme for this year is The Future and groups can reflect this theme in their entry.   
It could be the future for their organisation or a vision about the future of the Town, County or World.   
It could also be an issue which has to be addressed in the future.   Let the imaginations run wild !!

 

Grand Marshall
The Grand Marshall for this year is local man John Flanagan in recognition of his huge contribution to Tullamore and Offaly over many years.

 

Window Display
Local shops and businesses are encouraged to decorate their windows for the event.   There will be a special prize for the Best Window Display.

 

Facilities for the elderly and wheelchair users
There will be a special area reserved for the elderly and wheelchair users where they can watch the parade in comfort.   Ask us on the day or in advance you can contact the Parade Secretary, Sean O' Brien, at 086 3892854

 

Prizes
There will be generous prizes for 10 different categories so competition will be rife.  These prizes will be presented at a gala awards night after the Parade.

 

Face Painting
There will be free face painting from 10.30 a.m. at the rear entrance to the Bridge Centre, beside the Cinema.

 

Notes for the MC
If an organisation or business want the MC to read a piece about their entry please email this to info@stpatricksdaytullamore.com or give it to the MC early before the Parade

 

Traffic Diversions
There will be some traffic diversions in place in the Town Centre from 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.   
Please co-operate with the Gardai, Civil Defence and Stewards.

 

First Aid
First Aid is being provided by the Order Of Malta.   
If required please ask Stewards or personnel at the Review Stand
